Life in the wastelands. Empty

Edit: Wanted to post more.

SUMMARY:
A lot has changed since the outbreak. Anyone who lives in the Wastes is at high risk of death, injury or disease. The urban wastelands, a hodgepodge of contaminated areas and overgrown parks and lawns, are home to indeterminate numbers of the walking dead. Zombies of every class lurk around every corner and seek out the flesh of the living. Humans in the wastes now find themselves on the food chain and are hunted every moment of their lives.

Industries and many factories have collapsed and explosions of toxic chemicals and various reactions have caused fires to burn for years. Without anyone to put out the fires, entire cities have burned to the ground. But nature has also taken over and much of what was destroyed by the human population is slowly recovering. Many parts of the world wouldn't be considered a wasteland at all, but are rather lush, green forests overgrowing the untended houses and buildings. Animals roam the once busy streets and highways and make homes in human houses. Domesticated pets have since gone feral, roaming the suburban landscape in packs. Creatures that have escaped from zoos are found anywhere the local environment will support them- even in areas where they normally wouldn't be native.

People who live in the wastes are now called Wastelanders. Stories have been told about their resilience and nomadic nature. As the number of people found or rescued from the wastes continues to decline, the 'wastelander' has begun to take on an almost mythic quality. Though no additional survivors have been discovered for many years, some true believers insist that there are others still out there.
